i grow
i weed
i prune
and then i shoot

i gave a lecture last year during which I talked about my stems work. while i primarily photograph people, every now and then i find myself drawn to shooting flowers, petals, stems, thorns, or other parts of plants. there rarely is any commercial purpose in this endeavor, but the act of shooting these subjects is a creative release.

i call it my reset button.

at a recent lecture, i spoke of shooting stems
the simplicity of shooting . knowing the images are only for me
i find myself scouting just like i’m reviewing the light on location

for me, this process has become my creative reset button

a moment or two of wonderful light
and then the wind comes

in the evening it was perfect for snowmen,
by morning, the fresh stuff was soft and dry
